Bookshop Santa Cruz is a proud supporter of local and independently published authors and we are pleased to celebrate their works with our Local Authors Night series. Please join us for our next evening of book discussion, signing, and Q&A with these four local writers:

Gayle E. Pitman, Backdrop

A former instructor at Cabrillo College and San Jose State University, Gayle Pitman is currently Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies at Sacramento City College. Her new book, Backdrop: The Politics and Personalities behind Sexual Orientation Research, provides a timely glimpse into the political, social, cultural, and personal landscape that lies behind LGBTQ psychological research and was the winner of the 2012 International Book Award in the Gay/Lesbian Nonfiction category. Gayle divides her time between Sacramento and Capitola, and she is currently working on her second nonfiction book, which addresses the intersectionality of identities within the LGBTQ community.
